As a public body, the German Accreditation Council is subject to the provisions of the EU General Data Protection Regulation (DS-GVO) and the NRW Data Protection Act. It is ensured that the regulations on data protection are also observed by external service providers involved.
Here we would like to inform you about our principles and procedures for the collection, storage and processing of personal data in connection with the provision and use of our information offer on the Internet and in connection with the subscription to our newsletter or contacting us by e-mail.

When you use our information offer, personal data is collected there. This is necessary for technical reasons in order to guarantee all the functionalities of our website and the security of our offer.

Use of cookies and web statistics
This website uses the open source web analysis service Matomo. Matomo uses so-called "cookies". These are text files that are stored on your computer and enable us to analyse your use of our website. For this purpose, the information generated by the cookie about the use of this website is stored on our server. The IP address is anonymised before storage.
Matomo cookies remain on your terminal device until you delete them. The storage of Matomo cookies and the use of this analysis tool are based on your consent (Art. 6 para. 1 lit.7. a DSGVO). The consent can be revoked at any time. The information generated by the cookies about the use of this website will not be passed on to third parties.

Newsletter dispatch
We use Newsletter2Go as a service provider for sending our newsletters. In the course of your registration you agree that your entered data (gender, first name, last name and e-mail address) will be transmitted to Newsletter2Go. Please note the data protection provisions and general terms and conditions of Newsletter2Go. The legal basis for the storage of the data is your consent (Art. 6 para. 1 p. 1 lit. a DSGVO). The registration system with an additional message containing a request for final registration (double-opt-in) ensures that the newsletter is explicitly desired by you. The confirmation of your registration is stored so that the Accreditation Council can prove it if necessary (cf. Art. 5 para. 2 DSGVO). We use your data exclusively for sending the newsletter.
You can unsubscribe at any time and thus revoke your consent to data processing. For the purpose of unsubscribing, you will find a corresponding link in each newsletter. Furthermore, it is also possible to unsubscribe directly on the website of the Accreditation Council or to unsubscribe from the newsletter by sending a message to akr@akkreditierungsrat.de. The Accreditation Council will then delete all stored data immediately.

Data will only be passed on to third parties with the consent of the persons concerned; the Accreditation Council reserves the right in individual cases to forward requests addressed to it which (also) fall within the area of responsibility of other institutions. Forwarding a request to an institution in a third country (i.e. outside the European Union (EU) or the European Economic Area (EEA)) requires your express consent.
We delete the personal data that we receive by e-mail as soon as the storage is no longer necessary for the purpose pursued by you or in connection with administrative processes triggered by it and the retention obligations applicable for this.
The secrecy of telecommunications also protects the content of your e-mails from unauthorised access and processing. We can ensure compliance with this for the area of the Accreditation Council. However, we would like to point out that data transmission via the Internet can generally be recorded by other Internet operators and users. Personal data is therefore only transmitted in encrypted form if possible.
Protection of minors
Persons under the age of 18 should not transmit any personal data to us without the consent of their parents or legal guardians. We do not request personal data from children and young people. We do not knowingly collect such data.
Automated decision making including profiling
We do not use fully automated decision-making (including profiling) in accordance with Art. 22 DSGVO to process the data you provide to us.

Right to complain to the competent supervisory authority
In the event of violations of data protection law, you have the right to lodge a complaint with the competent supervisory authority. The competent supervisory authority in matters of data protection law is the State Data Protection Commissioner of the Federal State of North Rhine-Westphalia.
